2025 ANNUAL UPDATE

We’re turning up the fun at the Go Full STEAM fundraiser. Make an art print, solve a tricky math problem, do a little improv, or program a robot. Feel the sense of accomplish - ment and pride experienced by Go Full STEAM students. Afterwards, sip a glass of wine, savor delicious appetizers, and listen to an engaging presentation to learn more about the four amazing programs of Go Full STEAM - ArtWorks, MathBee, Arts After 5, and Robotics. And, it all takes place at a beautiful new location, Healthy West Orange in Winter Garden.

SUMMER MUSICAL

After an extended recess Arts After 5 is thrilled to announce -  We're back!  Our talented students are setting sail this summer with Moana jr. The cast has been chosen and rehearsals have begun. The kids are excited and working hard under the direction of Ke'Lee Pernell. Mark your calendars. Moana jr. performance takes place August 2nd, 6:30 p.m. at Maxey Elementary School in Winter Garden. WEEKLY CLASSES

Arts After 5 weekly theater classes resume in August at the West Orange Dream Center. Enhance your acting skills or try acting for the first time. Improve your confidence, diction, presentation skills, and more. Have fun while you learn. Classes are offered at no charge. 

Two classes are held on Thursdays.

Theater Expressions: ages 7-12 meets 5:00 - 6:00.

The Power of Storytelling: ages 13 -18 meets 6:00 - 7:00.

The final for the 2025 Go Full STEAM - Orange County Public Schools Fourth Grade MathBee Invitational was held on May 15th at St. Luke's United Methodist Church. Prior to the final approximately 2,400 students from Title I schools participated in individual school MathBees, narrowing the field to 10 finalists. At the MathBee Final excitement was high, competition stiff, and the math questions more difficult than in previous years. Student competitors are really stepping up their math game! 

After 10 rounds, Isaiah Edouard from Ridgewood Elementary won the 2025 MathBee Champion. He received a trophy, $500, and a free year of math coaching from Mathnasium. His teachers and coach weren't sure how a very shy Isaiah would handle such a public event. Cleary Isaiah rose to the challenge. Well done Isaiah!

Chino Perez from Ventura Elementary won 2nd place. He received a trophy, $250, and 3 months of Mathnasium coaching. Third place went to Ben Colclasure from Dream Lake Elementary. Ben received a trophy, $100, and a month of Mathnasium coaching.

Grant Provides Arts Opportunities

SWINGING WITH A PURPOSE GRANT FUNDS MULTIPLE LEARNING EXPERIENCES

In January 2025 ArtWorks received a $5,000 grant from Swinging with Purpose. The grant supported field trips to the Orlando Museum of Art and Orlando Family Stage, and art classes at three local organizations. Additionally the grant allowed ArtWorks to provide students with art supplies through the Kits for Kids program.

FIELD TRIPS Field trips to the Orlando Museum of Art and Orlando Family Stage provided students at Edgewood Children’s Ranch and Orlando Union Rescue Mission with exciting new learning experiences. For many students it was their first time seeing a play or being in an art museum. Research shows that new experiences expand children’s perspectives and allow them to see broader possibilities.

KITS FOR KIDS

Students at Orlando Union Rescue Mission and Edgewood Children’s Ranch also received totes filled with art supplies. Students were very excited to receive the totes as most had never owned art supplies.

SPECIAL ART PROJECT

ArtWorks lead a special art project with art students from Maxey Elementary School. The students created dragons to decorate the Orlando Family Stage lobby for the play Dragons Love Tacos. To thank them for their hard work Orlando Family Stage provided fifty free tickets so the student artists and their classmates could attend Dragons Love Tacos. Seeing their art on display made these hard working students feel very proud!

Robotics is Ready to GROW

Using FIRST LEGO League robotics equipment and content Go Full STEAM Robotics students learn cutting edge technologies along with important core value life skills. Students code robots to implement solutions to various theme-related challenges presented in robotics games. The games are played on specially designed robot competition tables which Go Full STEAM builds and donates. Go Full STEAM supports teams at Title I schools where financial challenged would otherwise make Robotics programs impossible.

 The robotics program at Maxey Elementary culminates with a Go Full STEAM Robotics Family Night. The event celebrates the accomplishments of the students and showcase their skills to family members. Each student receives a certificate and trophy in recognition of their hard work. Students beam with pride. Parents are impressed with all their children have accomplished. It's a wonderful evening of celebration and recognition.

Go Full STEAM Robotics fully sponsors one team at Maxey Elementary School and partners with the  National Society of Black Engineers to sponsor three teams at Pine Hills Elementary. In 2024-25 all teams were filled to capacity. Future goals include adding an advanced level team at Maxey Elementary, and starting new robotics programs at additional Title I schools.
